The inference of temporal information from past event occurrences in imagistic domains

چکیده
event occurrences in imagistic domains is relevant in several applications in knowledge engineering. In such applications, the order in which events have happened is imprinted in the domain as visual-spatial relations among its elements. Therefore, the interpretation of the relative ordering in which those events have occurred is essential for understanding the domain evolution. We propose a cognitive model for event ordering reasoning within domains whose elements have been modified by past events. From the analysis of cognitive abilities of experts we propose new ontology constructs for knowledge modelling associated to ProblemSolving Methods. We illustrate the effectiveness of the model by means of an application to an imagistic domain.

The inference of temporal information from past event occurrences is relevant in several applications for geological domains. In such applications, the order in which events have happened is imprinted in the domain as visualspatial relations among its elements. The interpretation of the relative ordering in which events have occurred is essential for understanding the geological evolution in di...
متن کاملSpeeding up Temporal Reasoning by Exploiting the Notion of Kernel of an Ordering Relation
In this paper, we consider the problem of expediting temporal reasoning about partially ordered events in Kowalski and Sergot's Event Calculus (EC). EC is a formalism for representing and reasoning about events and their effects in a logic programming framework [7]. Given a set of events occurring in the real world, EC is able to infer the set of maximal validity intervals (MVIs, hereinafter) o...
متن کاملTemporal and spatial variation of hardness and total dissolved solids concentration in drinking water resources of Ilam City using Geographic Information System
Background: In recent times, the decreasing groundwater reserves due to over-consumption of water resources and the unprecedented reduction of precipitation, during the past 1 decades, have resulted in a change in the volume and quality of water with time. The aim of this study was to determine the spatial and temporal variations of hardness and total dissolved solids in drinking water resource...
متن کاملApplying Semi-Markov Models for forecasting the Triple Dimensions of Next Earthquake Occurrences: with Case Study in Iran Area
In this paper Semi-Markov models are used to forecast the triple dimensions of next earthquake occurrences. Each earthquake can be investigated in three dimensions including temporal, spatial and magnitude. Semi-Markov models can be used for earthquake forecasting in each arbitrary area and each area can be divided into several zones. In Semi-Markov models each zone can be considered as a sta...
